I can help with any prose project: artist statements, book proposals, resumes, letters of application, etc.

I use Track Changes in the Review feature of Word. I correct errors in spelling, syntax, and grammar; I also indicate areas that are not clear, well-organized, that lack detail or are unnecessarily repetitive. I provide suggestions about how to ‘fix’ these sections; you can then plug these in to your paper or revise as necessary. I also provide an overall assessment of the positive aspects of your paper as well as the general aspects that need improvement. I return to you a digital copy where you can see all the changes I’ve made and suggested; you will also receive a “clean” copy.

I can also edit your academic undergraduate/graduate/professional paper. I have two years of experience as a professional academic copy editor and am familiar with the latest versions of most academic styles: APA, MLA, Chicago/Turabian, Vancouver, as well as some less often used formatting styles. I also taught college composition at several levels for over 25 years.

I have worked extensively with both ESL and native English-speaking writers in all academic areas and levels, including professors.

I charge $25 per hour. The number of hours depends on the amount of editing your project requires.

Generally, I can return a document of ten or fewer double-spaced pages within 48 hours. The time may be longer if you have a longer document or if your document requires an extensive amount of editing.

If you need an express job–a document returned within 24 hours–I can usually accommodate you. However, the price for your job will double.

Please use the “Contact” form on the last page of this website to describe your project and any special requests. I will respond to the email you provide as soon as possible. Once we are in agreement as to your needs, you may send me your document by Word attachment (no pdfs.). I will provide you an estimate, to be paid in advance through one of the methods listed on the “Pay for Mentoring or Editing Services” page (checks not accepted). If my estimate is in error, adjustments will be made upon return.

I do ensure that your paper will be free of error and formatted in accord with the requirements of the kind of document you are writing.

Let me help you to become the prose writer you long to be!
